Quoting the Journal of Clinical Psychology, 64% of people failed to maintain their resolutions after a month while the rest succeeded in achieving resolution until after 6 months.
Here are some practical tips to help realize your resolution includes:
- Make specific and measurable resolutions
Set a clear goal. Make a specific, measurable and achievable resolution. This also means one resolution might include several mini resolutions that would help you achieve your goal. For example, instead of saying “I want to study abroad”, specify it to “I want to study International Business in Australia”.
- Visualize your resolution
Write down the resolution and place it where you can see it. Make a list of your resolutions plus a monthly calendar that lists mini resolutions that would help you.
- Set time frame
When setting any goal, the time period in which you will achieve that goal is important. The time frame might help you to be more discipline, especially when you have a deadline in mind.
