Academic Excellence Scholarships
La Trobe University is pleased to announce the Academic Excellence Scholarship application period now open for Semester 1, 2009 intake. These scholarships will provide full and half scholarships to a number of students, based on academic merit.
Eligibility:
Academic Excellence Scholarships are available to international students commencing new undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programs including: Bachelor, Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, Postgraduate Diploma and Masters programs.
Research scholarships are also available for Masters by Research, PhD and Professional Doctorates – please refer to our Scholarships section for more details.
Selection Criteria
Students who have met all academic and English language requirements and have received an unconditional letter of offer before the scholarship closing date, will be assessed for selection based on excellent academic results submitted with the application.
Undergraduate: As a guide, an average grade equivalent to 75% or above for Foundation Studies and Diploma Students, OR an ENTER score equivalent to 75 for Australian Year 12 students would be considered for scholarship selection during first round of ranking.
Postgraduate: As a guide, an average grade of 80% or above in your most recent university program, would be considered for scholarship selection during first round of ranking.
Note: The above should be used as a guide only and scholarships will be awarded to the best candidates applying for Academic Excellence Scholarships.
Value
Full 100% scholarships will cover entire tuition fee for the duration of the degree, Half scholarships will cover 50% of tuition fees for the duration of the degree. Continuation is subject to satisfactory academic progress and maintaining status as an overseas student.
How to apply
If you are applying from overseas
Applications from students overseas close on 15 December 2008, for commencement Semester 1, 2009.
Applicants must complete the relevant undergraduate or postgraduate application form, and attach a 300 word statement of purpose detailing why they should receive the scholarship. Applications should be sent to intapplication@latrobe.edu.au Please ensure you include “Academic Excellence Scholarship” in the email subject heading.
Applicants will be notified of the outcome by 23 December 2008.
If you are applying from within Australia
Applications from International Students already studying in Australia close on 23 January 2009.
Australian Year 12 International Students should apply through VTAC, or UAC as usual, and send through their 300 word statement of purpose to intapplication@latrobe.edu.au with “Academic Excellence Scholarship” in the subject heading.
Applicants will be notified of the outcome by 30 January 2009.
